Bob was an alumnus of Maury High School, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Old Dominion University. He expressed his passion for music by teaching band in the public schools, as classical music manager for Planet Music, freelance tubist, band and music director conductor, radio host, and announcer. He was a member of the Norfolk Savoyards and the Tidewater Winds. He supported the Virginia Symphony and the Virginia Beach Municipal Band. He was a lay reader at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Deal. His mother H. K. Deal, passed away shortly after him.
Survivors include four sisters.
Funeral services were private. Memorial service will be held at McKendree United Methodist Church in Norfolk on August 11 from 3 until 5 p.m.
