

Virginia Beach - Violet Woodall Elliott died May 25, at her home in Virginia Beach at age 92. Violet was born May 16, 1922, in Gladys, Virginia. Her father was Charlie Woodall Sr and her mother, Dorothy Moore. She graduated first in her class of 12 in high school. The first in her family to attend college, she got her degree in education at Longwood College. She taught for thirty-one years at Thalia Elementary in Virginia Beach. She was married to Virgil Elliott for over 40 years until his death. She is survived by her daughter Janet Snook and her husband Richard, and her son Alan Elliott and his wife Carol. Her brother is Charlie Woodall Jr and his wife Carrie. She has four grandchildren, Scott Snook, Jonathan Snook, Amy Young, and Zoe Elliott. She also has two great grandchildren Lilly Snook and Samuel Snook, with a third great grandchild on the way to her granddaughter Amy. Violet loved gardening in her yard and visiting with her family. She was a founding member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church and taught in Sunday school for seventy years. There will be a funeral service at Kellum Funeral Home on Thursday, May 29, at 2 p.m., the Rev Prentis McGoldrick officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
