Arlene V. Curran

She was the wife of the late Robert S. Curran. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was a daughter of the late Walter J. and Ila (Searles) Briden.

Arlene graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Providence. She married the love of her life and they raised seven children together who were the center of her world. Arlene had a love for the beach, enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo, watching her favorite soap operas and she was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed anything Elvis. She cherished her Saturday evenings playing card games, especially Milleborn with Bob and her brother, Bille and his wife Sue.

Arlene enjoyed traveling with Bob and took several trips to Ireland, Alaska, California and Las Vegas, where she would sometimes reunite with her sister-in-law Evelyn and niece Linda. She had a great sense of humor and brought joy to all that knew her, especially “Bob”.

Arlene and Bob were married for 67 years and cherished their seven children and their families. She was the loving mother of Joyce Cravens, Kathleen Smith (John), Lori Mitchell (Mike), Cindy Curran, Susan Tellier (Bill), Robert Curran and Barbara Bonin (Len); cherished grandmother of Melissa, Nick, Chris, Shane, Mary, Shawn, Greg, Kayla, Ila-ann, Jonathan and Alexandria; great-grandmother of seven and the sister of William Briden (Sue) and Dorothy Fleming (Richard). She also leaves many beloved cousins.

Arlene’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support and condolences during this difficult time, especially all the employees of Alpine Nursing Home and Hope Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with her funeral service on Wednesday, February 19th at 12:00 p.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, East Greenwich.
