Personalized memorials and celebrations of life

Chapel at Russell J Boyle and Son Funeral HomesAt Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Homes, we believe that every service should be as unique as the life lived. We capture the essence of your loved one to create an event that honors your special person and gives friends and family a chance to come together and remember.

Perhaps it’s a barbecue in honor of the pit master, complete with live music and bottles of homemade sauce for guests to take home. Maybe it's a nautical-themed party for a sailing enthusiast. Or perhaps it's a quiet outdoor scattering ceremony with the closest family and friends. No matter your wish, no matter the detail, we handle it all.

Whether you want to arrange a traditional funeral service or modern celebration of life, large gathering or more intimate service, we will work with you one-on-one to ensure your needs and budget are met. From floral arrangements to music selections, decor, mementos and more, we guide you through your choices with care.

History

Russell J Boyle and Son Funeral HomesRussell J. Boyle, the founder of the funeral home that bears his name, was born in 1920. He spent the majority of his life involved in the funeral business. His first job was at the former Chisholm Funeral Home when he was just 10 years old. He started by opening the doors of the limousines for families and eventually became the premier embalmer in the State of Rhode Island, embalming and directing funerals for more than a dozen funeral homes.

After purchasing the Chisholm Home, Russell divided his time between the funeral home and a career in politics. He served for 22 years on the Providence City Council, including seven years as council president. He was a man who never said no, and he always went the extra mile to assist those in need. His favorite saying was, "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice."

Russell died in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of service excellence. His son, Thomas C. Boyle, who began his career in funeral service at age 16, stepped into his father's shoes. As part of the Dignity Memorial® family, the caring team at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Homes continues that tradition to this day.
