Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Albert A. and Elizabeth (Rankin) Laclair, and sister of the late Albert W. Laclair.
Betty grew up in Providence and attended St. Patrick’s School. She was the loving mother of Donna Hutchins and her husband Raymond, and the proud and cherished grandmother of Brianna and Jennifer Hutchins. She also leaves behind her cat Bell, who came for a visit and never left.
Betty had worked for the City of Providence for 41 years in Code Enforcement until her retirement. She was a Secular Franciscan since 1989 and was a devoted communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church, where she dedicated her time teaching CCD, and coordinating church events. She often travelled with her church group to places near and far and made wonderful memories along the way. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the St. Mary’s knitting group, and enjoyed making hats and gloves for the homeless.
