He was born on November 11, 1919 in East Taunton, Massachusetts, the son of Bartholomy A. Furmanik and Helena Taraska.
Bart had many siblings, thirteen in all. The family survived the death of his father during the Great Depression. After World War II, in which many of his brothers served, he and his brothers, Raymond and Andrew, ran their very successful farm in Massachusetts.
Bart married his first wife, Marie Jeanne Nadeau, in 1964 in Waterville, Maine. They had two children. Marie Jeanne passed in 1976.
Bart remarried Anita Doyon Skibicki in 1982 in Winslow. She passed in 1991.
Bart was very good with his hands and could fix almost anything and get it running again. He kept the machinery running at the farm. When he moved to Maine, he took a job with the construction company that built the I-95 interchange with Route 201 in Fairfield. He then took a job with New England Feeds and kept their three grain mills running in Waterville, Belfast, and Rockland.
Bart enjoyed gardening as farming never fully left him. He had big gardens and shared his crops with friends and family.
Bart also enjoyed fishing and could catch a fish as soon as his hook hit the water. He enjoyed being outside in the warm sunshine, hiking, and spending time with his children and granddaughter.
Bart was an avid Red Sox fan and when they didn’t do so good, they became the Red Flops.
Bart is predeceased by his parents, his wives, and twelve of his siblings. He is survived by his two children and granddaughter.
He will be missed by his family and many friends. He was a kind, gentle soul and made many friends in his long life.
His daughter wishes to thank special friends, Ginger and Barry in Benton, and Dave in China. She wants to thank the caregivers from Assistance Plus that came into his home, and the caregivers at Woodlands Memory Care for the loving compassionate care they gave to him during the last years of his life.
