Marvin L. Potter

Marvin Potter, age 79 of Wayland, went peacefully to meet his Lord on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Trillium Woods. Marv was born on November 19, 1935 in Grand Rapids, son of the late Alfred and Betty Potter. He was raised in the Byron Center area. On November 9, 1956, he married Norma Middlebush. They resided in Wyoming until 1969, when they settled in Byron Center to raise their family. Marv drove semi for 59 years working for several companies in the Grand Rapids area. Marv was a member of the Wayland Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, wintering in Florida and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marv is survived by his wife of 58 years Norma; his children: Dennis and Roxanne Potter, Greg and Vicky Potter, Gale Potter and Joe VanWagner; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; his brother and sisters: Gladys Austhof, Barb (Harold) Postma, Jim (Gail) Potter; his brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-laws and friends, Ernest Austhof and Wayne Ritz. Friends may visit with his family on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2-5 PM, at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, 312 N. Main Street, Wayland, along with one hour prior to the service at church. Funeral services will be Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11 AM at the Wayland Christian Reformed Church, 303 East Elm Street, Wayland, MI, with Pastor Jerry Zandstra officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayland Christian Reformed Church Building Fund or Faith Hospice-Trillium Woods.
