Robert Coppens

Bob Coppens, age 88, went to be with his Lord Saturday, March 26, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Coppens; son, Robert Donald Coppens ll. He is survived by his children Candace (Kirk) Reed, Chris Coppens, Carrie (Jim) VanZwol; grandchildren Racheal Buell, Robbie Coppens, Lexi Zuyddyk, Francesca Reed, Christopher Coppens ll, Dillan VanZwol, Daltan VanZwol, Dawson VanZwol; great-grandchildren Kyle, Kamryn, Reggie, Juniper, Kinsleigh, Wolfgang, Hattie, Koen, Peregrine, Thatcher, Lux; siblings Nancy Corrigan, Judy (Larry) Crittenden, James (Tess) Coppens, Larry (Jeanie) Coppens; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a proud man who always made family his number one priority. He was the hit of the party and the best joke teller. Bob was a worldwide traveler and a great connoisseur of fine food and drink. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also loved music, history, movies, and reading. Bob was a devout Catholic and patriot.

A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Ave., Wayland, MI 49348, with visitation 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. There will be a luncheon following the service at Wayland Hotel Bar and Grill, 104 S. Main St., Wayland. In memory of Bob, and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family for future Masses in Bob’s honor at Saints Cyril and Methodius.
