

Amelia Laverne Everett Rodgers, 80, formerly of League City, passed away Nov. 7, 2017. Laverne was born in Swiftown, MS. on July 2, 1937 to George and Virgie (Sims) Everett. She grew up in Money, MS. and after high school moved to Greenville, where she sang in the church choir and by chance, one Sunday morning, met U.S. Airman Alvin (Al) P. Rodgers. They married in Money, MS. on June 10, 1956 and for 40 years lived their life raising three boys and moving wherever Al was stationed from Arizona to Germany. After Al retired from the Air Force, they lived in Alabama, Virginia, and Texas, finally settling in League City where Al passed away in 1996. Through the years Laverne worked as a caterer, wedding planner and florist, retiring from Randall’s South Shore Floral in 2012. She was a member of Bay Harbour United Methodist Church, Clear Lake Country Club, was an avid golfer and devoted wife, mother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Alvin P. Rodgers, Sr., her mother and father George and Virgie Everett; sister Marie Everett Henson; brothers Roy D. Everett and Chester E. Everett; grand son in law Kendall McKnight; and her best friends Bill and Jean Kincy.
Survivors include sons Alvin “Paul” Rodgers, Jr. and wife Barbara of Bayou Vista, David Allen Rodgers and wife Susan of Houston, and Curtis Gene Rodgers and wife Peggy of Alvin; Sister Maudell Lishman and brother Jessie C. Everett of Money, MS.; Grandchildren, Trey (Kym) Rodgers, Tabitha McKnight, Brandi Bergeron, Nicole (Nicholas) Vaughn, Kristen (Adam) Johnson, Ami (Wes) Letson, Sarah (Garrett) Tremont, and Jennifer Rodgers; Great grandchildren, Brandon, Mackenzie, Ty, Cody, Megan, Carter, Nolan, Robert, Madison, Peighton, Colton, Annabelle, Emmy, and Gage; And her little companion, Lulu puppy.
The family would like to thank the staff of La Vita Bella Assisted Living Home in Dickinson for the exceptional care, love and attention they gave our mother and her family, especially Tina Davis, Janice, Amanda, Trudy Lampson and Hospice nurse Laura Labree. We send a very special thank you to Chaplin Mark Robinson for the spiritual comfort and friendship he gave to her. We will forever be in your debt.
Visitation and a reception will be held Monday, Nov. 13, from 5 – 8 pm at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway (exit 15), Texas City, Texas 77590. Funeral services will begin at 10 am on Tues., Nov. 14 at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX 77590. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson. Services will be presided over by Chaplin Mark Robinson. Pallbearers will be Paul Rodgers, David Rodgers, Curtis Rodgers, Trey Rodgers, Garrett Tremont, Cody McKnight, Nicholas Vaughn, and Jack Torregrossa.
