Bryan Archer, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 58 years old. Bryan was holding the hand of his devoted wife, Kelly, who reminded him until the very end how deeply he was loved.
Born on December 2, 1966 in Pasadena, Texas, Bryan attended South Houston High School, Class of 1985. He was also a proud member of the “Genoa Crew,” a group of childhood friends from his subdivision who remained close for more than 50 years—a bond that became like family and a constant source of joy throughout his life. In 1993, Bryan joined Southwest Airlines, where he proudly worked for over 30 years and became part of the Southwest “LUV” family. His dedication and skill were recognized many times, including being honored as Mechanic of the Year in 2015 and 2019. In 2020, he received the Southwest Airlines President’s Award, one of the company’s highest distinctions.
For 25 years Bryan and Kelly made their home in Pearland, Texas, where they built countless memories with family and friends. Most recently, they moved to Georgetown—the gateway to the Texas Hill Country.
Bryan met the love of his life, Kelly, in high school, and the two were married in 1988. For 37 years they shared an extraordinary love story built on kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion. To Kelly, Bryan was her “prince charming” and “gentle giant,” a true partner in every sense of the word.
An avid Houston Texans fan, Bryan loved nothing more than season tickets, pre-game tailgates, and cheering for his team—win or lose. He had a deep passion for riding his Harley, making memorable trips that included a proud ride from Pearland to Sturgis, savoring the freedom of the open road. Bryan also loved the outdoors and cherished hunting and fishing trips with his father, family, and friends. Fall was his favorite season, especially evenings around a campfire, sharing stories, laughter, and love.
Music was another joy in Bryan’s life—while he loved classic rock and heavy metal, he always humored Kelly’s pop favorites.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Huge Archer Sr and Fredrica Ann (Peterson)Archer. He is survived by his loving wife Kelly; his loyal pup Willie; his brother Woodrow Hugh Archer Jr. and wife Dana with their sons Carson and Easton; his brother-in-law Brian Kerr and wife Kathryn; and his extended family, including nephew Dakota Kerr and nieces Madison and Alex Kerr, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Bryan will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul, a man of faith, and a true gentleman who always held the door. He was selfless, generous, and quick to step up when others were in need. To know him was to know kindness, laughter, and love.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our friends, extended family, and Bryan’s Southwest Airlines family for the incredible love and support shown during his illness and in the days following his passing. Your kindness and presence have been a source of strength and comfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project, or Austin Pets Alive—organizations that reflect Bryan’s passions and his heart for others. Contributions to a charity of your choice are also appreciated.
