Cynthia Jane Simpson, 85, of Hitchcock, TX passed away of December 29, 2016. She was born in Counce, Tennessee on November 3, 1931 to James Leonard Battles and Texie Mae Blakney. She was married to Franklin Simpson for 29 years. Cynthia worked as a meat wrapper in multiple stores throughout 30 years. She had an extreme love for hats and Engelbert Humperdinck; being probably his #1 fan!! She even has a red hankie from Engelbert Humperdinck that he threw off stage. Cynthia enjoyed parties, living life to the fullest! She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Franklin Simpson; brothers Leon Battles and Jerry Battles; sisters Jo Whitman and Juanita Peyton; sons Shawn Wardlow and Jerrel Fowler; grandson Brandon Ogg; and numerous relatives and friends. She is survived daughter Sheila Lyrock; sons Stanley Wardlow and Steve Wardlow; sisters Jean Perry and Joice Hernandez; brothers Don Battles and Bobby Battles; 6 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery.
