

Born February 21, 1927 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Harold Charles Porter and Nellie Sophronia Porter. He married Marcy Lee Jennings of Springfield, Illinois on November 14, 1947. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Marcy Porter. Son in Houston, Texas, Mark Alan Porter with spouse Gay Porter. Daughter in Friendswood, Texas, Camela (Cami) Lea Rose with spouse Anthony Rose. Two granddaughters, Caressa (Annie) Antonia Rose in Houston, Texas and Callasandra (Callie) Lucia Rose with spouse Alex Ladysh in Detroit, Michigan. Sister, whom preceded him in death, Martha Hand of Bremen, Indiana and one brother, Burton Porter, who is also deceased.
Mr. Porter served in the U.S. Army 78th infantry division in France and Germany. He transferred to 759th Military Police Battalion in Berlin and drove patrol in the intercity network with the English, French, and Russian patrol units.
He worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He also owned and operated DAVMAR Aviation company in Springfield, Illinois at Capital Airport for 22 years and taught aviation courses at Lincoln Land community college.
He passed on July 27, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. We will be hosting a celebration of his life on July 31, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas.
