
Douglas Powell Bryant, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 1, 2025 in Houston, Texas at the age of 67. At his passing he was a 47 year resident of Seabrook – the El Jardin Subdivision.
Doug was born in Baltimore Maryland on June 25, 1957. His natural mother was age 15 when he was born. His family wanted to keep him, but the grandfather had a heart condition so he was given up for adoption and was adopted six months later by Norma and John Bryant. He had an adopted sister, Julie. All are now deceased.
He was never close with his adopted family. Doug met Cindy Siggins when they were in the second grade together. They met again at Clear Lake High School when he was 17 years old and they dated 2 years and were married on June 26, 1976. The Siggins family and friends welcomed Doug as part of their family.
Doug joined the Coast Guard in 1978. They bought a house and started a family. He was stationed in Galveston on the Valiant, a Coast Guard cutter, and then to Norfolk Virginia for Machine Tech Training. He then returned to Houston Ship Channel inspecting ships. He left with an honorable discharge in 1981. He then went to work at Exxon in 1981 and stayed until retirement in 2017.
Their first child was Vicki Jo, born April 23, 1981 who passed away in 2017. Their second child was Jennifer, born on May 19, 1983. He loved his girls and was very much a part of their lives. Later, he had two grandchildren by Jennifer, Nathan and Charli. These two grandchildren stole his heart. His wife, his girls, and two grandchildren meant the world to him.
He loved going to the airshow, he loved going to the movies, and he loved his books. He loved going to the shooting range. He loved going on hunting trips with his grandson. He loved guns and knives and all of is many dogs and doing special things with his grandchildren, the last of which was taking his granddaughter to Seattle to see the whales for her graduation.
Doug was diagnosed with ALS in September and died 6 months later on March 1, 2025.
He was the best husband, father and Papa that anyone could have ever asked for. They are forever thankful to have had him in their lives. He will be in their hearts forever.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Jennifer, and both grandchildren, Nathan and Charli. His memory will also live on in the hearts of countless friends and extended family members.
