

Edith Cook Mayer, born February 25, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away August 17, 2017 in Pearland, Texas. Edith was a Houston resident from 1930 to 1986 and moved to Pearland in 1986, where she stayed until her passing. She attended Milby High School and went on to attend the University of Houston.
In 1958 Edith joined the Order of the Eastern Stars, she was the CEO of Southwest Saw Corporation from 1988 until 2002 and was a member of Friendswood United Methodist Church.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Melvin R. Mayer.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Mayer Field and son-in-law, Budd Field, her son, Dickie Mayer, and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Mayer. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Wayne Frailey and granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Frailey, Darren Frailey, and granddaughter-in-law, Fe Frailey, granddaughters, Sherry Mayer and Bonnie Biggerstaff, great grandchildren, Cole Frailey, Ellie Frailey, Payton Frailey, Isabella Frailey and Ashton McGlone. Edith is also survived by her sister, Helen Cook Austin and brother-in-law, Vernon Austin of Decatur, Alabama.
The family will received friends for visitation on August 22, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Funeral Services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 10:00am. Pastor, Jim Bass of Friendswood Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery
