Elba Circelli was born Elba Rosa Silva Osorio on July 31, 1925, in the province of Oriente in Cuba. Her father’s name was Juan Silva Riverón. Her mother’s name was Mercedes Osorio Neira. Elba was the oldest of eight siblings whom she helped to raise. The beginning of her faith was during childhood, as she attended a neighborhood Bible study.
Elba married Eloy Liduvino Quiñones Tamayo on December 23, 1942. They had three children, Oscar, Elbita, and Alex. However, after fifteen happy years of marriage, Eloy passed away. Following her husband’s passing Elba raised her children as best she could, always putting an emphasis on their education. She moved to Havana, where she earned a license as a hairstylist.
On January 1, 1959, Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba. This led to much disruption and hardship. Due to a serious health issue Alex developed due to malnutrition, the family was forced to leave Cuba and come to the U.S. on January 16, 1962. By the hand of God upon the family, they were sponsored by the Methodist church to stay with a kind and welcoming family in New Jersey. After gaining her hair stylist license in the U.S., Elba was able to live independently and support her family.
Elba’s enduring faith sustained her through all these years. She always said that she was assured by the Lord about what her next step should be. He was always faithful to provide and to direct her path.
In January 1970, Elba married Pasquale Circelli, a kind and generous man with a sincere love of family. They were able to see their families grow through many grandchildren and great-grandchildren (even two great-great-grandchildren). The family has been through many seasons of both struggles and celebrations.
Elba and Pasquale celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Elba was also able to celebrate her 100th birthday this July. She was surrounded by a great number of family members who loved and celebrated her life with joy and thanksgiving.
According to the Lord’s good plan, Elba went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. She is now finally at peace, resting in the company of her Lord, and enjoying the fellowship of many saints who have gone before her.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas, on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10:00 am followed by a committal service.
