Ellen was married to Jack Houston Smith for 59 years. Together, they had a family of one son, Jack Harris Smith and wife Jere Smith, and three daughters, Eleanor Holder and husband Mac Holder, Lucille Foster and husband Art Foster, and Janet Gathright and husband Trent Gathright. Ellen enjoyed traveling in Texas, States within the USA, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and European Countries. Throughout the years, her family grew with the addition of 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Ellen has been blessed beyond measure with her years of life, sharp mentality, and good health. She has lived the past two years at the Beldon Senior Apartments maintaining independence while meeting friends and having great neighbors. Certainly, worthy of mentioning was her expertise in years of enjoyment in playing B-I-N-G-O. With swift actions and a sprinkle of luck, Ellen was often a WINNER!!! Ellen spent her last 6 months living in College Station, Texas at the home of her son Jack and daughter-in-law Jere. On March 16, 2024, at the age of 97 years and 10 months, she entered the gateway of heaven to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior. Rest in Peace. You will be missed!
