Eugene B. Gregory

Dr. Eugene Bryan Gregory (“Doc”) of Brenham, formerly of Houston, died August 29, 2010. He was born in Tucson, Arizona October 11, 1929 to Rev. Ernest Jackson Gregory Sr. and Ina Johnson Gregory, Baptist missionaries to Mexico. He graduated from Brackenridge High School San Antonio, Baylor University and Baylor University Medical School of Houston. Dr. Gregory served in the United States Navy retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He practiced general medicine in San Antonio, did a residency in ophthalmology at Baylor University Medical School in Houston, and became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He served the Houston community as an ophthalmologist for many years. Dr. Gregory suffered a debilitating stroke in 1979. With the support of his family, he survived by intelligence and good spirits. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Kay Harris Gregory, his children Jeffrey Bryan Gregory and wife Mary Colleen Gregory, Krista Lyn Gregory and husband Kenneth Dale Owens, Lee Alan Gregory and wife Kelly Kaduce Gregory; his brother Dr. Ernest Jackson Gregory Jr. and wife Valna Mae Gregory. Grandchildren Mary Suzanne Gregory, Laura Colleen Gregory, Caroline Lee Gregory and Julia Blake Gregory as well as nieces and nephews share in this loss. Gratitude goes to the caregivers at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village and Brazos Valley Hospice who faithfully and lovingly cared for him in the time he was a resident there. Memorials may be sent to Baylor University Medical School, 1 Baylor Plaza, Houston, TX 77030. Interment was at Forest Park East.
