Eva Rodriguez Gonzales, 88, of South Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Clear Brook Rehabilitation Center. Born in Wharton, Texas, to Alejandro and Nieves Rodriguez, she lived most of her life in South Houston, Texas.
As a young woman Eva worked at the Frito Lay plant, she sewed her own clothes and shared a home with her brother, Chuy (Jesus Rodriguez). She was a homemaker who raised her four children. She later found employment at St. Joseph Hospital in the Laundry Department until she decided to retire. Eva helped to raise funds to build Our Lady of Grace Church in South Houston. She loved music and dancing. One day at the resident center, she stood up to sing the song “La Bamba” and dance for the other residents.
Her parents Alejandro and Nieves Rodriguez, her sibling Jesus Rodriguez and her son, Paul Gonzales, precede Eva in death.
She is survived by her three children, Hilda Gonzales, Rose Linda Gonzales and Victor Gonzales and his wife, Sandra Gonzales; grandchildren, Elizabeth De La Garza (husband, Jacob De La Garza and daughter, Marisol), Victoria Gonzales, Gabriel Gonzales (wife, Edrea Gonzales), Jorge Gonzalez, Jeremy Palomo; great grandchild, Carissa De La Garza.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the family has decided not to have a viewing, only a graveside service.
