

Gloria Jean Hurley was 81 years old at the time of her passing on Friday, December 12, 2014. She was born in Oak Grove, Louisiana on May 18, 1933, a daughter of Tullie and Emma Orr. After graduating from Northeast Louisiana State she earned a Masters from Texas A&I.
For 33 years, Gloria was employed in public school systems, the majority of those years in the Pasadena Independent School District where she formed many lasting friendships. She was also a long time member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church where she enjoyed many years in service with good friends who fondly call her “Sarge”. Gloria selflessly gave her time, talents and compassion to others and treated everyone as family. It seems she never met a stranger. She touched many lives and she will be deeply missed.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert Hurley, her parents, stepmother Faye, and siblings Roy, Ray, and Anna. She is survived by her son, Keith and his wife, Sondra and their children, John and Stephanie; siblings, Maxine Williams, Cletha Berry, Glenn Orr, Lloyd Orr, Jerry Orr, and Debi Dake, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Forest Park East Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 pm. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm. at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 10030 Scarsdale Boulevard, Houston with Reverend W.C. Hall and Reverend Mark Pedersen officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana, where a graveside service will be held.
