

Gloria M. Phillips, 88, passed from this life on Thursday, October 9, 2014. She was born May 29, 1926 in Galveston, Texas to parents Julia and Joaquin Fernandez. For several years Gloria worked for Farmer’s Marine. Gloria and her late husband owned and operated a successful shrimping business in Galveston, Texas for many years. She also sold real estate and was a member of the St. Mary’s Cathedral in Galveston. After her retirement to Clear Lake City, she continued to enjoy spending time with family and friends and attended church at St. Bernadette. Gloria was married to her late husband of 58 years, Willie Gus Phillips, and survived by daughter Linda Perez and husband Ray Perez; son Nicholas Phillips and wife Viola Phillips; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister Cil Kalsnes; brother Charles Fernandez; sisters-in-law Arlene Fernandez, Victoria High, and Sophia Lopez; 4 nieces and 5 nephews. Friends are invited to celebrate Gloria’s life and visit with the family on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and attend funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Pallbearers are Michael, Jeffery, and Dillon Sievers, Bryan Phillips, Sr., Jason Phillips, Andy Inala, David and Steven Klippel.
