Hector “David” Guzman, a man of quiet strength, technical brilliance, and unwavering loyalty, passed away on January 10, 2026, at the age of 33. A resident of Friendswood, Texas, David lived a life defined by his integrity, his dedication to his community, and the deep love he held for his family.
Born on May 1, 1992, in Brownsville, Texas, David was the cherished son of Monica Garcia and Hector Guzman. He grew up with a resilient spirit, a trait that shone early on as a student-athlete at Clear Brook High School. A talented wrestler, David competed with heart at the district level, embodying the discipline and grit that would follow him throughout his life.
David’s professional life was a testament to his work ethic. As a Chief Plant Operator for the Clear Lake City Water Authority, he took immense pride in his role. He understood that his work was the invisible backbone of his community, ensuring the safety and health of thousands. Whether he was troubleshooting complex plant systems or mentoring new teammates with patience and humility, David was a respected leader who led by example.
Outside of work, David found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments. He was a devoted companion to his dog, Oliver, and remained a lifelong fan of sports. Those who knew him best will remember his dry sense of humor, his gentle spirit, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and appreciated without needing many words.
David is survived by his loving parents, Monica Garcia and Hector Guzman; his brother, Joel Guzman, and sister-in-law, Veronica; and his two nephews, Ezekiel and Benjamin, who brought him great pride. He also leaves behind a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends who will miss his guiding light.
He is reunited in peace with his brother, Michael Anthony Guzman; his grandparents, J.P. and Alma Gloria Garcia; and his great-grandmothers, Ignacia “Nachita” Munivez and Paula S. Guzman.
