Herman "Reggie" Dowdy Jr.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, he was born on December 26, 1957. Reggie was the only son of the late Herman Sr. and Roselee Dowdy. Reggie graduated from Linden McKinley High School, in 1975, in Columbus. He was a 1980 graduate of The Ohio State University where he majored in Mass Communications. Reggie was a devoted employee at Sears, Inc. for over 37 years. During his tenure at Sears Holdings, he held several positions from store clerk to District General Manager. His time with Sears gave him the opportunity to live in several states including Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Texas. Reggie was a faithful member and servant at Triumph Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Life Changers Church in Chicago and Grace Church of Humble in Houston. He served as the Ministry Leader for the Male Ushers/Doorkeepers at Life Changers and Grace. He was a Trustee at Triumph and Grace and was involved in the Men’s Life Development class at Grace. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 20 years, Lynne, two daughters Alysse and Selea, three sisters, Jackie (Edward – deceased), Sandy (James Wade) and Renee (Mark Williams), mother and father in-law, Arthur and Flossie Gordon, sister in laws, Jenell and Sandra (Leonard) and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

His visitation will be held Friday, May 11, 2012, 11:00 a.m., with his Celebration of Life immediately following at Noon at Grace Church of Humble, 7224 N. Sam Houston Pkwy E., Humble, TX 77396 with Pastors Brett and Scott Jones officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to the Reggie Dowdy Daughters College Fund, c/o Lynne G Dowdy at Chase Bank.
