John Leslie Swift Sr.

John Leslie Swift, Sr. passed away on May 25th at University Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was born on January 22, 1940 in Meridian, MS, to Arthur and Loraine Swift. John grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from Milby High School in 1958. After high school, he attended Junior College in Houston.

John went to work for Texas Cold Finished Steel, and worked there for many years before moving to Foundation Steel and Wire, where he remained until he retired in 2008.

John married Tresa Darnell Garringer in 1961. They were married for 34 years until her passing in 1994. They raised two sons, John II and Christopher, were very active in their church, and taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. John later married Aileen Rambin, and they were married for 12 years.

John is survived by his son, John II, and wife Laurel, of San Antonio, TX; his son, Chris, and wife Luisa of Ackworth, GA; his siblings, David Swift, Jane Taylor, and Ann Braden; his grandchildren, Blake, Jordyn and Colton Swift, and his many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Loraine; his first wife, Tresa, and his siblings, Arthur and Wayne.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas. A celebration of John's life will be held Friday, May 28 at 10:00AM. Immediately following he will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery.
