Jose Louis Cambiaso

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bi and Memen Cambiaso. As well as his loving, beautiful wife of 55 years, Hortense Cambiaso and his pride and joy, oldest son Tony Cambiaso.

Joe was a loving father to his children Joey Cambiaso and Josephine Cambiaso. Joe also greatly loved all of his family both in Texas and in Santo Domingo. He had a special place in his heart for his sisters, Titina, and Finette, his daughter-in-law, Shannon Cambiaso, Deanna Cambiaso and his son-in-law Rick Baade, and all of his grandchildren.

Joe proudly served in the two branches of the armed forces. He fought in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War, and also served in the Air Force as a still photographer. Joe Cambiaso’s service to his country by fighting in the renowned battle at Pork Chop Hill is an honor that will never be forgotten. He was our hero.

He retired from NASA, and had the honor to photograph recovery operations for the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. He flew in NASA’s Zero G Aircraft, befriended many astronauts, and received numerous prestigious awards for his contributions to the space program. Memories of him flying with his bright orange jump suit, flight helmet, and bomber flight jacket will be cherished and shared forever.

He was a mentor to all who knew him and was respected for his knowledge in professional photography. He eventually fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own business, National Film Company, and flying in his own personal Cessna airplane. Joe was deeply admired by all and helped many people build their own future careers. He was a witty man who enjoyed sharing his knowledge with family, friends, and many others who crossed his path. Joe lived a life of continuous adventures and achievements.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas 77598, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Joe's Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.
