Karen Denise Mathewson, born February 8, 1964, after fighting a short, courageous battle with leukemia, passed away on May 20, 2011. Leaving behind to mourn for her, her mom, Sarah J. “Cookie” Mathewson, brothers Jesse and Michael Mathewson and wife Julie, nieces, Seaira and Lauren Mathewson, Sarah Kennedy, nephew Brett Mathewson, great- nephew, Gage Connor Kennedy, Aunt Flo Lowe, numerous cousins and a host of friends. Special thanks to Dr. Mimms and Dr. Udden, and all the nurses who gave her special care on the 6th floor during her hospital stay. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Ben Mathewson and her sister, Dawn Mathewson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:30pm, at Forest Park East.
