She was born on July 31, 1952 to her parents Augusta and Jethro “Jack” Cummins in Massachusetts, and was raised primarily in Pasadena, Texas, where she often rode her motorcycle around town. Kerry pursued studies in archaeology at Mississippi State before returning to Texas, where she met her loving husband of 44 years, Ted. They moved to Seabrook and raised their children, son Woody and daughter Micki.
To put it simply, Kerry loved life. She had an infectious smile and a kind word for everyone. Planning trips was a favorite pastime. Whether it was a quick visit with her brother, a new adventure with old friends, or the perfect family vacation, she loved to travel and to connect with the people she cared about.
Kerry is survived by her husband, Edward (Ted) Grover; her brother Wayne Cummins; her son and daughter-in-law Woody and Erica Grover; her daughter and son-in-law Micki and Matt Taylor; her granddaughters Eleanor and Josephine Grover; her grandsons Syd and River Taylor; and countless cousins, nephews, a niece, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Augusta Cummins, and brother, David Cummins.
The best way to honor Kerry is to try to bring the same joy to everyday life that she did. A few suggestions Kerry would offer include: Have a good cup of coffee (or three or four). Take a long walk with your best friend. Find a great bargain. FaceTime with family. Beat today’s sudoku. Relax with a book or a good TV show. Bring your grandbabies to the playground.
Although the family is heartbroken at the sudden and unexpected loss of our beloved “Nana,” we feel so unbelievably lucky to have known her. She was a bright star whose light will never fade.
