Leon D. Garrett passed away January 30, 2011 at the age of 91. He was born June 11, 1919 in Troup, Texas to Dallas Garrett and Georgia Whiteside Garrett. Leon served in the Army from 1937 until 1945. He was awarded a Purple Heart during World War II. He enlisted in the Air Force and retired from active duty in 1955. Following his retirement from the service he went to work in Houston as a foreman in commercial building construction.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gay Garrett. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Margaret Garrett; three stepchildren, Pat Sellers, Brenda Gallagher and George Kimes; two sisters, Betty Boulter & Lottie Perry; a brother, Gordon Garrett; six grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in the Chapel at Forest Park East Funeral Home at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 2, 2011 with Rev. Blake Lander of Memorial Baptist Church of Pasadena officiating.
