Born on November 29, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, Velma lived a life filled with love, kindness, and quiet strength. On May 19, 1969, she married the love of her life, Robert William “Bill” Dodd. Together, they shared over five decades of marriage, raising a family and building a legacy of devotion and care.
In 1981, Velma and Bill moved with their three sons to Houston, Texas, where they built a warm and loving home. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an incredibly proud grandmother.
Velma is preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: William L. Dodd and his wife Melanie, Robert David Dodd and his wife Keri, and Michael W. Dodd and his wife Kristen. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Jessica, Robert, Michael, Tiffany, and Jack.
Her family was the center of her world, and her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed.
A private memorial service will be held by the family to honor her life and legacy.
