Lydia Ruiz Longoria was born on September 23, 1930, in Mission, Texas, to Lazaro Ruiz and Agapita Lopez Ruiz. After graduating from high school, she attended junior college and worked as an assistant auditor.
On August 9, 1953, Lydia married her beloved Juan Longoria, Jr., and together they embarked on a journey of love and family. They first settled in Houston, Texas, and shortly thereafter, moved to Brookside Village, where they resided for 65 years. A devoted wife and mother, Lydia took pride in her family, was an active PTA member during her children’s school years.
Lydia’s passions included quilting, gardening, sewing, singing in the church choir, and spending time at the beach, where she marveled at the ocean’s beauty and collected shells as mementos of her cherished moments. She was a loving grandmother who cherished every moment with her grandchildren—offering boundless love, guidance, and warmth. Her nurturing spirit and smile left an enduring impression on her family.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, brother Francisco Ruiz, her husband of 70 years Juan Longoria, Jr., and her grandson Juan Rene Longoria. She is survived by her children, Juan R. Longoria (Rose Linda), Yvonne Dolloff (Michel), Alonzo R. Longoria, and Denise O’Hehir. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jason Dolloff, Christina Elliott (Travis), Garrett Dolloff (Sara), Victoria Longoria, and great-grandchildren Mason and Enzo Elliott, Kyah, Maverick, Oliver, and Augustus Dolloff.
