

Marie “Mimi” Holodnak Higgins, age 79, went to be with the Lord on July 20th, 2024. She was born on August 17, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY to Frank and Marie Holodnak. Marie was raised by her grandparents, Charles and Mary Fullman in Reagantown, PA.
Marie attended public school in South Huntington Township, PA where she met the love of her life George M. Higgins. They would go on to be married August 9th, 1962. The loving couple moved to South Houston, TX first renting and then purchasing their forever home in 1966. Marie and George devoted themselves to fostering seven children before adding their own two children: son, George Jr. and daughter, Wendy. Marie was active in PTA at Pearl Hall Elementary School Pasadena ISD, was a Ladies Auxiliary member in South Houston Little League, involved in volunteering and sewed costumes for her daughter Wendy’s dance recitals at Rachel’s Dance Studio. When her children were in high school, Marie was very active in volunteering at school functions, multiple dances and sporting events. Marie worked at L.F. Smith Elementary Pasadena ISD and Carlston Elementary in Pearland ISD as a Special Education Aide. She then went to work for Forest Park East as a secretary to the cemetery sales manager before retiring to care for and enjoy her grandchildren. Marie’s favorite hobbies were crocheting, needlepoint, and painting.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, George; her son, George Higgins Jr. and daughter-in-law Kim of Harper, TX; daughter, Wendy Salisbury and son-in-law Ron of Pasadena, TX; her cherished grandchildren, Hannah Salisbury and her fiancé Tyler Charo, Justin Higgins, Haley Salisbury, and great granddaughter to be, Brynlee Charo; brother, Frank Holodnak and his wife Patsy of South Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Roberta Gibson and her husband Don of Sandy Lake, PA; several nieces, nephews, many family members, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Marie Waugaman and Frank Holodnak; grandparents, Charles and Mary Fullman; uncle, Paul Fullman and aunt, Eva Fullman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Essential Hospice, nurses: Veronica, Katie, Kim and CNA LaShonda.
