Mark was born November 12th 1960, in Alameda, California. He was the son of John W. Andru and Carol L. Andru. After graduating from high school in Bolder Colorado, Mark enlisted in the USMC where he remained for the next 15 years. He left as an E6 Staff Sargent with Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation (5th Award), Navy Unit Commendation, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. After retiring from the Marines, he went to work in the valve industry for 20 years, until retirement.
Mark married the love of his life Jan Johnson Andru on July 11th 1997. Mark and Jan loved to travel, spending time on the water, fishing, sports and creating memories with family and friends. Together they share five children and seven grandchildren, which he considered to be his greatest treasures.
Mark has been described as a best friend, encourager, and inspiration to many he came in contact with. He touched the lives of many. Mark would light up the room with his presence, He embraced every moment and his laughter was contagious. Mark was a great listener and teacher to his children and grandchildren. He instilled in them the things that were close to his heart. The children and grandchildren were fortunate to have many memorable adventures and vacations with him.
Mark was an avid fan of all sports. His heart belonged with the Houston: Astros, Texans and Rockets. Mark was competitive by nature and enjoyed playing washers, darts, and ping pong with his sons, and family. He was fond of bridge marathons, poker, and board games with family, and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife Jan Johnson Andru, of League City Texas. Also survived by parents Carol L. and John Andru (Gail), brother Todd Andru (Lynette), sister DeAnnna Andru. Brother in laws, Kyle Johnson (Susan), Mike Johnson. His sons Mark A. Andru (Claudia) and Jordan, Joshua E. Andru (Lauren) Wyatt, Maleah, Nolan, Christopher J. Andru, all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Daughters Danielle D. Stafford (Shawn) Evan and Reagan and Alyssa Brooke and Elyse, of League City. Long time friends Jay and Amy Tatman. Last but certainly not least his best bud, loved by all, Turner. Numerous extended family.
Special thanks to Dr. Niraj Choudhary,MD and Dr. Smriti Choudhary, MD who were his physicians, who provided excellent care over the years. His family would also like to acknowledge the V. A. health system for their care throughout the years.
