Mary P. Doane went to her heavenly home on May 4th, 2020 after a physical decline of several years. She was a strong woman of faith and attended Faith Assembly of God in Pasadena, Texas for over 40 years. Mary had a passion for painting and a love of flowers. Some of her most exquisite pieces of artwork were of floral arrangements. She also had a “green thumb” and could make any plant flourish in her garden. Mary was a wonderful homemaker and an immaculate housekeeper. She was “company ready” at all times, an art almost nonexistent these days.
Mary was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 21st, 1923. In her younger years, she was a hat merchandiser at Sakowitz and later a fashion consultant at a local boutique. Mary was a lovely lady and always took the time to dress fashionably. She had a love of animals, especially for her furbabies, mostly of the Pomeranian breed. She had a love of older classic movies and she loved an evening of viewing Bible movies; anything that contributed to learning about God. She was always learning and searching for God’s truth.
Mary was a very kind, compassionate and generous person to all who knew her. She loved the company of dear friends and family, was a lover of God and of his creation.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Walker; and sister, Elaine Valentine. She is survived by Richard T. Doane, her husband of 42 years; step-daughters, Sonya Doane Tatum (Larry) and Sherry Doane; nephews, Gary Valentine (Kathy), Rock Valentine (Debbie), Steven Valentine (Shari), and their families.
Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. But we take great joy that she is celebrating in her eternal heavenly home.
