Passed away on September 16th 2013. Mollie was born on December 29th 1924 in Marion County, Alabama. She was named Mauvine Hudson by her father William Hudson and her mother Hattie. Her siblings included James, William (known as Bill), Imogene (known as Jean) and Aileen. Her father, mother and siblings have preceded her in death as well as her own daughter Jackie.
Mollie married James Mines and had four daughters, Jimmie, Jackie, Carla and Deborah. All of her daughters have produced grandchildren for Mollie. (Jimmie’s daughter Barbara) (Jackie’s children Brian, Tracie and Mollie) (Carla’s children Robert and Nanette) and (Deborah’s girls Charity and Priscilla) all grew up in a very close relationship with their grandmother. She was always close to her girls and her grandchildren. Taking on the responsibility of raising Jackie’s children directly after her early death and at various times living with and helping raise the other grandchildren as well. Her mothering was constant and multi-generational.
All the grandchildren have produced great grandchildren for Mollie. (Barbara’s son Zane) (Brian’s children Austin and Alexandra) (Tracie’s boys Nathan and Jeremy) (Mollie’s boys Seth and Ethan) (Robert’s children Forest, Justin, and Megan) (Nanette’s girls Haden and Brenna) (Charity’s boys Skylar, Gideon and Daniel) and (Priscilla’s girls Erin and Autumn) all were very close to Mollie. She also stayed close and kept in contact with the relatives back in Alabama. Her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins were always on her mind. She poured her love out to all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family and their well being was Mollie’s first concern. She made sure that every one had the basics of food clothes and shelter. Mauvine was not that fond of her name and went by Mollie and Mom until the grandchildren came along, where as she became “Memaw”. She loved being Memaw. That was her name from then on. The in-laws that were also part of Memaw’s family include Mark, Kelly, Chad, Joseph, David, Jason.
Memaw’s love and kindness extended to a vast number of friends and neighbors. Her neighbors will tell you that they are family to her and she would tell you the same. She baby sat the Rodriguez neighbor children for so long that they belonged to Memaw just as much as their own parents. Memaw worked a fireworks stand for the Pate brothers for so many years it was coined Memaw’s stand. She helped Mrs. Bryce with her fruit stand for years where the Jack in the Box sits on Grand Ave and Hwy146. She loved all of the people she was around. So many that it is impossible to recount all of them and over a tremendous time period.
Throughout Memaw’s life she enjoyed gardening and growing plants. She constantly worked to provide and care and teach her family. She grew up with hard work and a great love of family. She was the rock of her family and inspirational to everyone that knew her story. She will be missed by so many people. She lived a long life, full of some hardships but always with perseverance and the unshakeable love for her friends and family. Memaw, we all love you and will feel the choking sadness that you are no longer with us, but we know you are in heaven and death will not stop you from continuing to watch over us. We will all carry you with us until we meet again.
