Michael Oliver Jones Jr.

Michael ‘Mike’ Oliver Jones, Jr., born October 14, 1974 in Houston, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 5, 2011 at the age of 37. Mike graduated from Klein Forest High School in 1993 and attended Stephen F. Austin University. In most recent years, he discovered a great interest in the IT/computer field and thoroughly enjoyed his position as a programming systems analyst. Mike had a passion and talent for cooking, enjoyed music (karaoke included) and slapstick humor, which stood to reason given his dry sense of humor and wit. He was a true animal lover with a great sense of compassion for all creatures – particularly those in need.

Mike was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pearl Mize and Bip Barnette. He is survived by his parents, Judy and John Thrower; his sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and David Gaither; sister and brother-in-law, Denise and James Andrew; nephews, Austin Andrew and Callan Gaither; aunt, Joan Burks; uncle, Fred Barnette, numerous cousins and his beloved cats.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10 from 11:30 – 12:30 at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway. A graveside service will follow at 12:30. Pallbearers: James Andrew, Freddy Barnette, Jr., Rusty Blanton, Steven Brookover, Darin Daly, Simon Davidson, James Nowaski and Ronnie Voyles.

Family and friends will gather afterward.
