On November 20th, 1925, in the small town of Rose City, Texas, a beautiful baby girl, Nadine Eloise Sarver, was born to Henry Watkins and Falber Lee Sarver. After having three boys, they were overjoyed to welcome their first baby girl! Her arrival brought great happiness in the midst of The Great Depression. Nadine quickly became the apple of her Daddy’s eye and a great help to her Mother. At the tender age of 4 she took on the roll of caring for her new baby sister and twins that were born two years later. Throughout life her gentle and caring nature became the glue that held the family together.
At the age of sixteen, Nadine married Lloyd H. Wright, Sr., her husband of 51 years. They began their married life in Dayton, Texas, and later moved to Houston where their three children were born. In November 1956 they moved to her dream home at 710 Elmore Drive, League City, where she resided for 58 years. In September 1960, they felt lead to start Life Temple Church. Services were initially held in their garage until construction of the church building was complete at 530 N. Illinois Street in League City. During this time, Nadine made and sold her famous three inch meringue pies every week to support the building fund. She wore many hats from Pastor’s wife to Decorator to Sunday School Teacher. The church building was later sold and Life Temple merged with another congregation, becoming what would eventually be known as Greater Life Church, now pastored by Bro. Mark Hughes. In 1986, they became faithful members of Deer Park UPC/Springs of Life Church where they enjoyed many years of worship with Pastors Bro. & Sister Pozzie and Bro. & Sis Blackburn.
Nadine was the Queen of her family. If she had worn a crown, it surely would have been pink. She always gave that extra special touch and attention to detail when it came to holidays, animals, decorating, hospitality, her yard, and above all, serving her God. Every morning she started her day with prayer and Bible reading. She was clothed with dignity and strength, but known for lace and frills, Victorian dolls and figurines. Nadine was a devoted Mother unlike any other to her three children. She was a Lady in every sense of the word and a home-maker extraordinaire. Though life threw her many curves, she never complained, even in her later years of failing health. Her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease was finally won Sunday, July 29th, 2018. Her legacy is faithfulness, humility, excellence, and peace. We give honor to her flawless character and unfailing love for her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Lloyd H. Wright, Sr.; Son, Lloyd H. Wright, Jr.; Parents, Henry Watkins and Falber Lee Sarver; Brothers, J.D. Sarver, Henry Lee Sarver, Walter G. Sarver; Sisters, LaVelle Busker, Florene McNeely, Grandson, Shane Allen Hammer; son-in-law, Bill Murmer; Favorite Cousins Marie Sarver Mosley and Clariece Morse.
