Norma graduated from Mission High School where she was active in the Library Club and Pep Squad. She went on and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a master’s in Library Science in 1975. Norma had a love for reading books and being a teacher. She taught elementary, intermediate, and high school. She later became the Librarian at Walt Disney Elementary in Alvin, Texas for 30 plus years. There she created, designed, and decorated that library that she took great pride in. She created reading programs for students to discover the joy of reading.
She married Ruben Mancha in 1983 and had one daughter, Celeste Mancha, in 1984. Together they had a happy and rich life.
Norma also had a love for plants and gardening. She enjoyed being in her backyard feeding and watching the birds, watching the butterflies, gardening, and drinking coffee. She also had a strong faith in God and grew up in the Catholic church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Mancha, and her parents Celestino and Alicia Ramirez. She is survived by her daughter, Celeste Mancha, sisters Irma Ramirez and Imelda Gutierrez, brother Celestino Ramirez, sister in-law Rosie Ramirez, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with a committal and reception to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
