Patricia Ann (Lott) McClay, 80, of Pasadena, Texas passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023. She was born in Houston, Texas on November 29, 1942. The daughter of Frank Samuel Lott and Pauline Mary (Thomas) Lott, she grew up in Houston, Texas with two brothers, Frank Jr. and John and a younger sister, Darlene. The family resided in The Heights in a picturesque home complete with a front porch and a swing. Patricia, a studious young lady, attended St. Agnes Catholic Academy for girls where she graduated valedictorian of her class. She became engaged to Harvey McClay, her brother Frank’s best friend, around the time Harvey was completing a college degree in mathematics at Rice University. The two married January 8,1961 and moved to Yuba, California, where Harvey accepted a job at the United States Department of Defense working on mobile missile defense systems.
Patricia and Harvey welcomed their first child, James Franklin, during their time in California. They returned to the Houston area in 1962 when Harvey accepted a position with the newly established Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, currently known as NASA’s Johnson Space Center. They settled in Pasadena, Texas where the young family welcomed three more children over the next 13 years; John Eric in 1963, Susan Patricia in 1965 and Robert Curtis in 1973. Patricia later attended college and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in accounting and worked as an accountant when her children were older. All of Harvey and Patricia’s children excelled in school and all four graduated high school in the top five in their classes. All four children are college graduates and went on to become successful servants in society as physicians, school teacher and computer specialist in the school district.
Patricia and Harvey lived in Pasadena for over 50 years together until Harvey passed away, reuniting with his Lord and Savior, in 2015. Patricia exuded a kind, gentle spirit who faithfully raised their children to follow the Lord and to trust in His plan. She possessed an impressive intellect, a great sense of humor and a quick wit. She was a devoted wife and mother, always lovingly patient and selflessly dedicated to her children and their happiness before her own. She often expressed her gratefulness to her four children for lovingly caring for her after her husband passed away. She will be greatly missed by those who love her and cared for her. Patricia joyfully greeted her Lord and Savior in heaven upon passing away peacefully in her sleep after a long illness.
