OBITUARY

Polly Lin Ma

13 September, 1927 – 18 July, 2020
IN THE CARE OF

Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery

Polly (Po-Lien) Lin Ma, 92, of Houston, Texas passed away, peacefully on July 18, 2020. Polly was born on September 13, 1927 in Shanghai to Robert and Doris Lin. Married to Ching Po (C.P.) Ma for over 60 years until his death on July 17, 2007. They owned and ran Polly’s Restaurant, later named Polly’s Cafe for 30+ years in the NASA/Clear Lake area.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Antony Ma. Polly is survived by her son David Ma and his wife Vicki Ma of Webster, Texas; granddaughter Amy Ma and her husband Eric Holt of Tomball, Texas; granddaughter-in-law Kim Ma of Houston, Texas; sister Sally Gould her husband Dee Gould of Clear Lake, Texas, brother Peter Lin and his wife Nancy Lin, of Ohio, brother Henry Lin and his wife Kitty Lin of Washington D.C. and brother John Lin along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Polly was a friend to many and would never let anyone go hungry. She was strict and overprotective at home, but generous and had a heart of gold. Anyone that was fortunate enough to cross paths with Polly was guaranteed a full stomach an earful. She was the matchmaker, the instigator, the protector and the caregiver. Polly always extended our Thanksgiving dinners to “customers” which she treated like family, we only closed after lunch and had our own dinner after everyone else was fed.

She loved shopping and if she found a sweater or a dress she liked, you better believe she would buy all of them in various colors and sizes. Polly loved flowers, jewelry and had a room full of stuffed animals. She was collector of antiques, enjoyed golf and bowling in her younger years and was the biggest family supporter. Polly befriended everyone whether it was the hungry student who couldn’t pay or the retired veteran that was down on their luck.

A private family visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Ma family.
