Robert Bob Carter

Robert Bob Carter of Hitchcock passed away June 30, 2023. He was born in Cedar Lake, Texas on April 9, 1934 to George Carter and Gracie William-Carter. Robert was married to Charlene Conway Carter for 51 blessed years.

Robert has always been an active man. He has worked for Galveston Wharf for 10 years. Drove trucks for 20 years and taxi cabs. He also owned a cab with BusyBee Cab Company for 10 years. Later, he worked for the City of Galveston for over 5 years. Lastly, he worked for University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) for 25 years.

Upon Retirement, he started a lawn service with his devoted brother. Even as his health declined, he worked until it was impossible for him to move.

Robert was a dedicated member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church for the last 79 years.

Robert is preceded in death by both parents George Carter and Gracie Brown. Sisters; Roxanne Johnican, Jerlin Chatman, and Eliza Jone Wrenn. Brothers: John Carter, Will Carter, and Christopher Carter. Sons: Robert Bob Carter, Jr. and Ronnie Blake Carter. Daughter: Vickie Earnestine Hunter-Edwards. Grandchildren: Robert Bob Carter III and Erica Elaine Carter.

He is survived by his spouse Charlene Carter, his devoted brother Monroe Carter (Patricia), Children: Roger Bruce Carter (Gwenlyn), Raymond Kirk Carter (Brenda), Brenda Willis, Edward Taylor, Sharon Elaine Carter, Sharon Denise King (Mitchell) and Rodney Craig Carter: forty grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren, hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Robert Bob Carter will be missed dearly.

A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 6609 Fairwood Rd, Hitchcock, TX 77563. A funeral service to follow at 11:00 am and interment at Mainland Memorial Cemetery, 6602 O Brien St, Hitchcock, TX 77563.
