Miss you Dad! I’ve been watching the moon and sunrises and they’ve been so beautiful. This sunrise was in Spain last year when I was there . It was the anniversary of your passing 🌅

I recently learned of Roy's passing.  I had the pleasure of first being recruited by Roy for a traffic signal project in Abu Dhabi.  However, I had to turn down the offer, due to family matters. But later I worked with him on a city-wide signal control system for the city of Duluth, MN.  On the drive there from Minneapolis, I had the opportunity to learn about his experience with the Apollo Moon Missions.

Hi Dad,

I watch the sunrise and remember how you taught me about the stars. God’s glory  as you continue to Rest In His Peace. Today I saw the sun in Sitges, Spain and I thought of you .

Patti, thank you for reaching out to me yesterday. I was so sorry to read about Roy’s passing. I have so many fond memories of him. I worked for him in our TRW days. What a connection we had. His drive to work under pressure kept us busy to the wee hours of the morning. When deadlines were met, we would laugh at how we squeaked in at the last moment and pat each other on our backs…job well done! He kept the excitement and laughter in everything we did. You could never get enough of Roy Kessman. Our time was way too short together. 

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I feel your loss. Blessings to his family. Keep looking to the stars!

Difficult to accept that my golfing.friend of many years has left this earth. We played golf at Baywood CC almost every weekend for eight years. We worked together on Apollo. Roy enjoyed my book on the Apollo years. I will miss him.


My most sincere condolences on Roy's passing, everyone.  Working with Roy on the LVACTS system upgrade 25 years ago was a lot of fun, and we kept in occasional touch since then.

My deepest condolences! It was very heartbreaking to return Wed & hear the news of his passing. It was a pleasure caring for him. He was a very nice man, once I got to know him. It made me smile when I would walk into his room & he would say "thank God it's you"! My prayers & thoughts are with you & his loved ones! God bless

Roy was one of my Dad's most treasured friends and was a huge support to us as we battled Dad's cancer.  I'd like to believe they are now reunited, in that I find comfort and hope you can as well.

Roy loved many different sports.  I remember lots of times sitting and listening to how much he knew about the Cubs. It amazed me the knowledge of each player.
Golf was his sport to play and he was good!  I remember him teaching Jered when he was 3or4. He wanted Jered to be the next Tiger!

I enjoyed talking with Roy as he would always amazed me with his knowledge of so many things.  You never knew where the conversation would go but you always walked away with new information and insights.

May he rest in peace and I pray for Patti, Jennifer, Sara and Julie.

Will miss your advice and support and thoughtfulness .  Loved learning about things from you- always sending beautiful photos of nature and science.  Always thinking about our well being and keeping us safe.   Thank you for loving and supporting the kids so much too-  Rest In Peace.  We love you!

Grandad was a great grandfather who loved golf and chess.  One of my favorite memories was every time we would visit I remember we would always sit and play chess in his living room, talk, and have a great time together. He will be missed, Love you Grandad! 

Roy was a great friend of mine many years ago when we were working on the Saturn/Apollo mission at Northrop Space Labs in Huntsville, Alabama.  Roy introduced me to the Chicago Cubs and i have been a Cubs fan ever since.  Roy was a good friend and although I have not seen him in years, I will really miss knowing he is no longer with us.  May he rest in peace with our Lord and I pray for comfort for his family.    Bob Keith

We loved Roy's stories about systems he had designed and travels he had made.  We will miss his smile and determination. He was caring and compassionate,  and a generous cousin and friend.  Our hearts and prayers are with you Patti, Richard, girls and family, praying for comfort and peace for you all.   In the presence of the Savior now,   Roy is healed and rejoicing evermore.

My elder brother ,Roy had many talents. His quest to be the best in
all that he did was a trait that I am thankful to have as part of his
legacy. In high school sports, Roy was a Varsity baseball player, ever striving to captain the team as a catcher. His aspiration to fly, led to his taking me up in a Piper Tri champ following his safe for solo check flight while we both at the University of Illinois and members of the CHi PSI fraternity. Roy's drive to be competitive was a mark of his need to succeed, which he did in his life's work to be a leading  traffic engineer using  and creating the newest computer technology to program elevator, pipeline, vehicle and  train traffic as an independent provider to many who sought his cutting edge expertise .   We will miss his smile.

Hello,

I wanted to share that my Dad taught me about the stars as a little girl. He knew the names of all the constellations and we would sit outside often at night so he could point them out. Yesterday, on the day he left us, the stars were big and bright and blanketing the Texas sky. I even saw a shooting star.

It has been a very long time since I last saw you and Roy. I would have greatly enjoyed speaking with Roy about the Intelligent Traffic System design. I can see why Roy and Ravi Aurora would’ve gotten along so well.
