Sam G. Villanueva, 61, of Pasadena and Seabrook, Texas, passed away on April 25, 2026. He was born on December 6, 1964, in Pasadena, Texas, where he spent much of his life building a legacy of faith, love, and hard work.
Sam was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Rebecca Villanueva, and a proud father to Branden Villanueva (Sasha), Ashley Bounds (Steven), and Kennith Herd (Patricia). He was a cherished grandfather to Jordan Herd, Violet Herd, and Marcelo Herd, Wyatt Bounds, Mason Bounds, and Bryce Bounds, and joyfully awaiting the arrival of his grandson, Daniel Villanueva.
Known affectionately as “Pawpaw,” Sam had a presence that could light up any room. His laughter was contagious, and he brought joy to everyone blessed to know him. He dedicated many years of his life working as a distributor for companies such as Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s, and Little Debbie, where his strong work ethic and commitment were evident to all.
Beyond his work, Sam was a man of deep faith who served the Lord wholeheartedly. He found great purpose in teaching his grandchildren about God’s word, often reflecting on scriptures such as Mark 10:14 and Psalm 37:4. Even in the final stretch of his journey, he remained steadfast, often reminding those around him that he trusted in God’s timing.
Sam had a passion for life’s simple and meaningful joys. He loved playing golf, traveling with his wife, listening to rock and roll music, spending time by the ocean, skiing, keeping his pool pristine, and most of all, taking his grandchildren on unforgettable adventures.
Though his life was affected by ALS, Sam’s life was one of abundance, strength, and unwavering faith. He faced every challenge with courage and never stopped fighting. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the values he instilled in each of them.
A special tribute from his granddaughter, Violet:
“My grandfather, although in my eyes, is gone too soon, lived a life that was full of love and abundance. He never failed to stay strong and conquer every part of his journey. He raised me and my siblings with so much love and guidance, and I can never thank God enough for allowing me to be under his care.”
Sam will be deeply missed, but his impact, love, and faith will continue to live on through all who knew him.
