

Samuel Rufus Boulton, 90, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 8, 2023. He was born September 12, 1932 in Hero, MS. Yes, he was a country boy! He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron Ab Boulton and Kittie Mae Williams Boulton, one brother; Charles Aaron Boulton, one sister; Mary Virginia Boulton Cleveland, and one grandson; Bobby Crum.
Sam attended school in Newton, MS graduating in 1951. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War receiving many awards and commendations! He was a loyal employee of Houston Lighting and Power for 37 years. After returning to East Texas he was contacted by some electrical contractors and worked 20 more years for Tessco, PLS & KV Power making lots of friends working throughout Texas and surrounding states. It has been said they learned so much from him! One of their men stated he was “a great man, a legend”.
He loved to build things. He entirely remodeled the old dog-trot house in Maydelle and completely built a house there for Barbara and himself. He played adult baseball and softball for years for HL&P as well as other companies. He was so proud to be a part of the first Senior Softball World Series. He loved to garden and tinker with his old tractors. He also enjoyed fishing when he got a chance. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Maydelle, TX.
Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Jean Koimn Boulton, his sons; Samuel Craig Boulton and wife Stephanie, of Pearland, TX, Ronald Edward Boulton and wife Michelle of Thornton, CO, and daughter Vikki Lynn Boulton of Maydelle, TX.
Surviving grandchildren and great grandchildren are: Samuel Keith Boulton, of Lenora and children Samuel Bruce, Audrey, and Bennet, of Austin, TX, Krista Morgan Boulton D’Amato and husband Nicholas of Alvin, TX, Katherine Alexandra Boulton Upchurch Smith, husband Nicholas and children Rosie and Chloe of Bryan, TX, Kameron Allen Boulton and wife Zoe of Thornton, CO, Amber Jordan Crum Childs, husband Kyle and daughter Ivy of Maydelle, TX, Charlie Brandon Crum, wife Kristen and daughter Alice and Iris of Maydelle, TX, Alexis Jean Boulton Marburg of Wichita Falls, TX, Zachary Keith Cotten and children Laramie, Irelyn, Colt, and Cullen all of Ohio, Miranda Cotten and children Chance, Aliyah, and Hope of Thornton, CO, Shara Cotten and children Zaylin and Haisley Mae of Thornton, CO. Sam was very proud that his name of Samuel was carried on for three generations.
Sam is also survived by two brothers, Reverend William A. Boulton and wife Linda of Heidelberg, MS, and James Richard Boulton of Carpenterway, WY, three nephews; Wm Boyd Cleveland and wife Nan of Houston, Tom Boulton and wife in Saudi Arabia and Bruce Boulton of Mississippi.
