Selestino M. Martinez Sr.

Selestino M. Martinez, Sr., “Sel”, 86, born in Bay City, Texas on April 6, 1926 to Pedro and Santos Martinez, went home to be with our Lord on June 19, 2012. He was an Army veteran, Accounting graduate from the University of Houston, US Postal Service Accountant for 43 years and CFO of St. Patrick’s Credit Union for 36 years.

Sel is preceded in death by his infant daughter Corinne, Brothers Ignacio and Faustino; Sisters Dolores and Mary. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Esther Flores Martinez, 8 children, Sel Martinez, Jr. (Migdalia); Laura Gallego (Richard); Pete Martinez; Robert Martinez (San Juana); Estella Nantz (Jim); Monica Gomez (Corey); Matthew Martinez, Sr., Grace Bosch (Chuck); 16 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; and brother Marcelo Martinez, Sr.

Sel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, father-in-law and friend to many. His compassion, generosity, faith, great sense of humor and beautiful smile would light up a room.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Fwy Webster, Tx 77598. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10am at St. Patrick Church, 4918 Cochran St. Houston, Tx 77009. Interment to follow.
