

Shirley Ann Turner Cagle was born on December 25, 1937 in Hillsboro, Texas, daughter of Audrey (Drewery) Turner and William Turner. She passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020 in Santa Fe, Texas surrounded by her loved ones.
Shirley graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Texas in May 1956. She married Charles Maurice Cagle on June 27, 1956 and after a brief life in Dallas, relocated to Texas City. Charles began working at Monsanto Chemical and Shirley was hired by John Sealy Hospital as an admitting clerk. Over the next several years, she was promoted to secretary and spent time at UTMB in the Pediatric and Neurology offices until retirement. She soon returned to work in cardiology at the Houston Medical Center. Shirley had two children and remained married for the next 56 years, until Charles passed away on January 2, 2002. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years. Her favorite past time was watching her grandchildren play sports. Until recently, she also served as a volunteer and past president of the hospital auxiliary at Mainland Medical Center.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her stepmother Ethel Turner; sister Flo (Turner) Mosley and husband Bob Mosley; granddaughter Kristin Reed, and grandson Jared Reed.
Survivors include daughter Stacey Cagle Griswold and husband Bo (Friendswood) and daughter Kay Cagle Boone (Santa Fe). Four grandchildren Roy Bolton (Alvin), Brandon Reed and wife Soria (Alvin), Erin Bolton McAfee and husband Dan (Santa Fe), Tiger Boone and wife Melia (Tiki Island), Nicole and Brandon Cleary (Friendswood). Also included are her great-grandchildren Kinley, Nori, and Murphy Reed, Talan, Vail, Taylor, and Ella McAfee, Sydney Bolton, and Colin and Ava Boone.
The family would like to thank her caregivers (A-Med Hospice), Stacey Hoffman, Julia Lewis, Christina and Mary K, along with Dr. Lee Grumbles for the excellent, compassionate care given.
There will be a graveside service Wednesday August, 19 at 11:00AM at Forest Park East Cemetery located at 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
