Stanley Roberts Ratcliffe was born in Saltville, Virginia on January 17, 1928. He was predeceased by his wife Nola Russell Ratcliffe. “Stan the Man,” always a true gentleman, passed away on October 16, 2012. Stan was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in chemical engineering. After a long career in his chosen field, Stan, a lifelong numismatist, was sole proprietor of Stan’s Coins in League City. Stan was married for 58 years to his beloved wife. He will always be loved, remembered and dearly missed by his children: David and Sue Ellen Ratcliffe of Scurry, Kathy and Terry Cain of Plano, Leslie and David Johnson of Grapevine, Linda and Charles Sparks of Poetry, Sam and Lori Ratcliffe of Deer Park, his nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Forest Park East in Webster.
