Thelma Marie Terrebonne Hasson, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 6, 2021, at the age of 92. Born March 27, 1929, she was one of five daughters and two sons raised by Henry Donate and Sylvina (Nina) Guilbeau Terrebonne in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. She met and married the love of her life, William “Bill” Anderson Hasson, Jr. in 1951. Thelma and Bill settled in Pasadena, Texas, where they raised their four children.
Family, faith, and education were important to Thelma. Her most cherished times were spent with her sisters, her children and their spouses, and her grand- and great-grandchildren. Thelma attended All Saints Day every year in Golden Meadow, LA with her sisters and their daughters. She was an active substitute teacher in Pasadena ISD through the 1990’s and was recognized as Substitute Teacher of the Year. A group of her coworkers created a “lunch bunch” group where she formed lasting friendships. Known to her family as Meme, she spent her retirement teaching, spoiling, and attending events for her grand-, great- and great-great-grandchildren. Thelma was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Houston sports teams and her beloved Aggies. The past few years were highlighted by a family rivalry during the A&M-LSU game with a granddaughter attending LSU.
She is survived by her sister, Ann T. Cheramie (and her husband Tony); her three children: James Henry Hasson; Susan Kay Hasson Doggette; and Jacquelyn Marie Hasson Dugas (and her husband John); and daughter-in-law Janice Hasson; twelve grandchildren (and their spouses): William Hasson IV (Kimberly); Charity Lyda (James); Heather Hasson (Spencer Cushman); Michael Hasson; Claire Johnson (Erik); David H. Doggette Jr. (Carol); William Doggette (Cristan); Robert Doggette (Jordan); Jamie Fanciulli (Mark); John E. Dugas IV (Kaley); Julianne Dugas; and Jack Dugas; fourteen great-grandchildren: William Hasson V; Casey Lyda (Delta); Brittany Lyda (Blake Hommers); Cloe Cushman, Jason, Tori, and Kalie Carlisle; Nash Johnson; Kayla and Taylor King; Sawyer and Brooks Doggette; Camden Doggette; and Michael Fanciulli; and four great-great-grandchildren: Carson and Casen Lyda; Kinsley Hommers; and Isla King.
She leaves us to join her beloved husband Bill; brothers Henry D. Terrebonne and Tunney J. Terrebonne; sisters Priscilla Brock, Eula Duhon, and Marie Terrebonne; son William A. Hasson III; and son-in-law David H. Doggette. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers along with honorary pallbearers, James Henry Hasson and Tony Cheramie.
