

Walter Morgan Lewis was born on August 21, 1920 in Durham, New Hampshire to loving parents Harriet and Willard Lewis, their third child of four children. At 7:40 pm on January 16, 2012, he died peacefully of 91 years in his journey to be with his Lord and Savior.
Walter, a devote Methodist all his life married the love of his life, Betty M. Lewis on September 26, 1942 in St Louis Missouri during his WWII service to our country as an officer in the Army Air Corp. In 1945 they had the first set of identical twins born at Shaw Field Army Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina. Later they had a third son and raised the boys to be boys. Walter’s first job was with Budd Company in Philadelphia. Later he worked several jobs with Guardian Service and then Sears before securing a job with IBM as a facilities manager for the next thirty years until retirement in 1983. Then Walter and Betty moved to Florida for much needed rest and pleasure.
Walter is survived by his wife, Betty, now 90 years of age, a younger brother Donald and his wife, Doris of Coopersburg, PA; and three sons, Richard & Catharin Lewis of League City, Texas; John and Laura Lewis of Cornelius, North Carolina; and Alan & Diane Lewis of Arlington, Texas.
He is also survived by seven granddaughters, Sarah & Bill Dudney of Colorado, Rachel & Marte Amrine of Texas, Kari & Kori Thurber of Texas, Amy & Travis Sholar of North Carolina, Amber & Matt Ross of North Carolina, McKenna Lewis of North Carolina and Jessica & Stephen Pope of Texas. Walter is also survived by four grandsons, Phillip & Kristen Lewis of Tennessee, Kenton & Mairenui Lewis of Nevada, Morgan and Hunter Lewis of North Carolina.
He is survived by twenty great grandchildren, Andrew, Isaac, Anna, Sophia, Isabel, Jacob & Elijah Dudney; Chase, Julianna,& Parker Lewis, Bryson & Brock Amrine, Sydney & Savannah Thurber; Tyler & Dallas Lewis, Journey, Londyn & Locke Sholar, Mack Ross and one more great grand son on the way in April.
A memorial service to honor his life is scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2012 starting at 7 pm at First United Methodist Church, Dickinson, Texas with Rev. John E. Reasons officiating. He lived a good life and his example as loving husband, father, grandfather and great grand father, his sense of humor, and his attention to details will be remembered in the hearts of all who came to know him. We love him and he will be greatly missed.
