Wayne was married to the love-of-his-life, Faye Brady Gemmill for 37 years. Wayne worked in the ship building and repair industry for 32 years. After which, he became an Ordained Minister. He served as Pastor for Victory Baptist Church in Bacliff, Texas. After retiring from the ministry, he became a member of Bayou Drive Baptist Church in Alvin. In all, he served the Lord for thirty-three years.
He was preceded in death by Father William Gemmill, Mother Evelyn Gemmill, Sister Barbara Elliot, Sister Eileen Lewis and Brother Phil Gemmill.
He is survived by his Wife Faye Gemmill, Sister Carol Shell, Brother Gilbert Gemmill, Daughter Lynn Harris and husband Butch, Sons Tim Gemmill and wife Kathy, Andy Gemmill, Pete Gemmill and wife Dawn. He raised and is survived by Nephew Jeff Darrow, Niece Robin Williams and husband Rick. Stepsons Kenny Hanks and wife Tish, Brad Hanks and Stepdaughter Margo Lauzon. He has 26 Grandchildren, 35 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Wayne had a passion for the Lord and working with the church in any capacity. He had a capacity for understanding dogs and horses. He was never without a dog and he enjoyed riding horses or just being around them. He cared deeply for his family and was the constant throughout the years for all his kids and their kids. His love for his wife goes without saying. He cherished her for more than 37 years with a love second only to God’s.
He was a husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Mentor, a Pastor and a Friend. He will be greatly missed by us all and by so many of the souls he touched.
A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A reception will occur Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
