

Mr. Alfred Barrett was born on December 15, 1938 in Toronto, Ontario. His parents were Cordelia & Reginald Barrett. Alfred was raised in East York. Alfred was raised with 14 siblings. These were Reg, Irene, Ted, Betty Anne, Pat, Elenore, Jackie, Gale, Tony, Susie, Heather , Mary, Robin & Rodney.
As a young boy, Alfred took part in swimming. In his spare time he liked army toys, Bi-bi guns & comic books. His favorite class in high school was math. While growing up, some of his best friends were John, Jerry Murry & Al. Later in life, he became friends with Al Lees.
On July 8, 1962 Alfred exchanged wedding vows with Patricia May Poyner at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, in Scarborough, Ontario. Patricia was a significant part of his life, and it wasn't necessary for Alfred to be overly sentimental or expressive about it for others to be aware of their mutual devotion. Family and children were important to Alfred. He and Patricia were blessed with one child, their son Bryan. They were also blessed with one grandchild, Aaron.
Alfred 's primary occupation throughout his life was as a milk man. He was employed for forty four years.
Alfred was a member of the Governor General Horse Guards for much of his life His favorite pursuits were hockey ( the Toronto Maple Leafs), history & gardening. He was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were Maple Leaf Hockey. Throughout his later years, Alfred was an active member of the Curling Club, and, served on committees for the Neighbourhood Friends Gatherings.
Throughout his life Alfred's favorite vacations included Horseshoe Lake, Wasaga and Muskoka.
Alfred was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. Some of Alfred's favorites were Scamp, a Beagle, Nipper, a Black lab, Spanky, Cricket & Miggens, cats.
When Alfred's retirement finally came in 2007, he was well prepared. His new life involved staying at home in Scarborough. In retirement, he found new pleasure in gardening.
Alfred passed away on July 2, 2009 at Scarborough General Hospital, of lung cancer. He is survived by his wife Pat, son Bryan, and grandson Aaron. Services were held at Giffen-Mack Chapel.
