Andrew Douglas Browne

It is with profound sorrow to announce that our son Andrew passed away on September 16th, 2026 at Centenary Hospital at the age of 63. He is survived by his mother Dorothy and father Malcolm of Markham and brother Malcolm, wife Ginette, daughters Jennifer and Amanda, and granddaughters Luna and Lyra.

Andrew's love for his family superseded all his many accomplishments. He absolutely adored his two daughters Jennifer and Amanda as well as his granddaughters Luna and Lyra and saw them as much as possible. They were his pride and joy from the minute they were brought into this world. He was in constant contact with them through all of their dilemmas and achievements. Although they were a distance away, he never missed a thing about their lives.

Andrew so enjoyed being the captain of his boat "Just In Time" that was moored at the Port Perry Yacht Club on Lake Scugog. He spent several years just touring around the lake with his family and was proud as punch to wear the captain's hat.

His happiest times were when he was able to spend time at the cottage. He enjoyed swimming, even when the waters were cold. He also spent time canoeing and making trips around the lake in his pontoon boat. The cottage was his special place where he could unwind and just do nothing.

Andrew was a big fan of downhill skiing which he often did with his good friend Brian. He eventually became an instructor on those same hills teaching young people to ski. This was activity he really enjoyed.

Andrew loved nature and all animals. He had a patch on the side of the house that he insisted the grass could never be cut to accommodate the rabbit that lived there. It did not matter that it looked odd, that patch was the rabbit's home! When the deer appeared in the backyard, Andrew was the first one to spot them and let us all know it was time to feed them! They would not go hungry with Andrew on patrol.

Andrew ran his own business in the cable installation sector under the name "Active Cable" for over 30 years. In his working career he was held in very high esteem in that contract world and was known throughout the industry as "Andy". He was always ready to assist the other contractors when he could-just call Andy! His own crews were very loyal to Andy and worked tirelessly daily to accomplish the required jobs that were needed for each and every day.

His contract was through Shaw and later through COGECO. He was the top performer for COGECO and was constantly recognised as such. Andy was very well respected due to his work ethics and his relationships with crews.

Andrew's second love was his music. From a very early age he had a band call "Hair Trigger" that included his long time friend Brian. They practiced endlessly at home to get things absolutely perfect. The had many gig's and some were quite a long way out of town. They would travel no matter how far to entertain. Did they make the "big time"? Absolutely not , but they certainly had a great time trying! He played guitar and drums as well as keyboard, bongos and also sang. The house was constantly filled with music. Even later on, after he injured his hand and could no longer play the guitar, he was often heard playing on his drums and bongos.

Andrew was a friend to everyone , always ready to help whenever needed. His infectious smile would fill the room when he walked in. Spending time with Andrew was a pure joy for all who knew him. Always laughing and making the best of any situation. Andrew was a very kind man with much compassion, empathy, and love for all his family and friends.

Andrew left us all too soon and will remain in our hearts until the end of time.

The family kindly requests that guests wear colour to the Celebration of Life as a reflection of the joy, love and beautiful memories that Andrew brought to those around them.
